At 10 o'clock in the morning, as the flute sounded, the participating athletes stepped onto surfboards and braved the waves on the picturesque Grand Canal, adding infinite vitality and color to the ancient canal. The competition perfectly blends the natural beauty of the Grand Canal with the dynamic passion of electric surfboards, providing the audience with a stunning viewing experience.

Athlete Xu Dingjun from Qingdao Aviation School praised, "The beautiful scenery of the Grand Canal, the elegant design of the Thousand Lotus Leaping Dew Bridge, and the blue sky and white clouds make this competition on the Grand Canal in the sub center feel really great.

The power surfboard is derived from traditional surfboards, and by installing a power device, it can surf in any sea area without seasonal restrictions. Since 2018, the power board has become an officially promoted water sports project by the Water Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China. Electric surfboards control speed through remote controllers, testing athletes' turning skills and balance control abilities.

This competition has four levels of electric surfboard: public level, professional level, public level, and leisure level. The public level and professional level also have adult and university groups respectively, providing a wide platform for electric surfboard enthusiasts and water sports enthusiasts to participate. In addition, the competition also added performance events such as electric hydrofoil surfing boards and men's and women's electric hydrofoil surfing board loop races, further enriching the content of the event.

During the competition, the water terminal also held a water sports carnival event, with exciting performances by kayaking, paddleboarding, power board and other related clubs and athletes. At the same time, a series of colorful interactive activities such as water sports equipment exhibitions, sports markets, water splashing festivals, waterfront parks, trendy night markets, and beer festivals are also being held simultaneously, bringing audiences a comprehensive entertainment experience.

Yang Lei, Deputy District Mayor of Tongzhou District, stated that the Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Scenic Area, as one of the first 15 pilot areas for water (sea) national leisure and sports centers in China, is committed to promoting water sports on the Grand Canal. This competition will further promote the development of water sports and events in the Grand Canal cultural tourism scenic area and the urban sub center, and is a vivid practice of the integration of "canal" and "sports".

At present, the urban sub center is focusing on building the "National Sports" brand. Relying on its natural advantage of multiple rivers and abundant water, the urban sub center will actively develop water sports. Following the electric surfboard league, the second Beijing Open Rowing Championships will be held in August, while the 2023 Beijing City Sub Center Canal Rowing Masters will kick off in September.
